Letter sent to Escondido Palomar Pomerado Hospital:

I am writing this letter contesting an obvious un-justified medical procedure (X-Ray) performed upon me resulting in an incorrect billing rate imposed as well as for the purposes of memorializing what has happened to me as described below.

On 08-13-09 at approx 8:30 AM I did enter the Emergency Services at Palomar Medical Center – Escondido as my wrist was swollen up and I had a bump developing on the inner side of my left hand wrist. I was concerned as to what was happening with me and decided I needed to see a doctor.

Upon arriving… I talked with two women at the front desk. They asked me several questions and I filled out the intake form. I told and showed them that I needed to have this bump checked out and that my hand was swollen and that a pharmacist (where I purchased an ace bandage) said I should get an x-ray but that I didn’t know what to do other then to see a doctor.

I waited about another half an hour when a technician called my name. He escorted me to an examining room. He asked me to sit and place my hand under the x-ray machine which I did and several x-rays were taken (which I never seen). From there, I was escorted out to another hallway waiting room and was asked to wait for a doctor.

There I waited about another 45 minutes when I was approached by an Physicians assistant I believe. She asked me what was the problem? I proceeded to tell her of my wrist, bump and all. She took a look at it. Rubbed her finger over my bump and said “ Oh….that’s a Ganglion Cyst” I said “You sure the x-rays didn’t show a broken bone? She said “you had x-rays?” I said “yes… they x-rayed my wrist” she said “wait one moment” she walked away for about 10 minutes or so (to look at the x-rays), came back and said…”I was right”…. No broken bones.. it’s a Cyst”

I didn’t say anything to the doctor but something wasn’t right about this whole x-ray thing. It became immediately apparent to me that I never needed the x-rays in the first place and that I had just been correctly diagnosed with a Cyst upon touch and sight. And that if a doctor had seen me initially like I asked… Once again…. I never would have needed the x-rays as it was easily diagnosed in person.

At Discharge I was billed 980.00 Dollars. Right then I expressed my concerns but got no where. The lady behind the counter said she is giving me a 40% discount and wanted 582.00 something right then and there. I was disturbed about the whole thing and said “bill me” told her I would follow up with billing later.

On 08-18-09 I called billing – No answer. On 08-20-09 I called billing and proceeded to explain what has happened with me. The lady said “Nevertheless the x-rays were taken and you owe this money and you are expected to pay” I said “Pay for a procedure that wasn’t necessary?” She said “that’s how we work it”. Something to that effect. She then said there was a 40% deduction as I have no medical insurance and was billing me the correct amount showing the 40% deduction and all and that I could pay total in two payments. We spoke for some time and I thanked her for the 40% deduction but still asked her to justify the high charges and x-ray charges and I believe she fell way short of doing this. I got no where with her and we ended the call.

On 08-21-09 I acquired my mail and noticed I received the bill. Opened it and it showed 970.00 DUE. No 40% deduction, no two payments schedule as I was told – nothing. Just a total of 970.00 unpaid balance. Copies included.

One other comment before I close. It is obvious I am writing this letter because I strongly believe that I was charged too much for the services I received. I very much appreciate the services provided and respect the medical community and don’t demean doctor’s practices. However, I am just trying to keep things real here. Were the x-rays necessary? I think the answer based on what happened to me is a strong no. Please consider my proposed payment of 264.00 Total for the visual diagnosis and services. This is a fair amount and quite frankly is a reasonable and real world amount.

Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

**************To date… they continue billing me and ignoring my letters. I have asked for an audit but they fail to respond to my certified letters. Under F.T.C. Laws… they have 90 days to resolve this matter. Doesn’t look like their going to make it. I already sent them 264.00 as a more reasonable amount. A more real world charge in this unreal world of hospital nightmares.

UPDATE: 05/09/2011 >> I have heard no word from the FTC regarding my complaint. Thanks a lot you over bloated redundant gov agency !!!  I see that they “Hospital” placed a judgement against me in my credit bureau. I am contesting this as well. Also… the other day my friend was in in accident in Escondido totaled his Jeep and sustained some leg injury. He checked himself into the same hospital they kept him over night did some x-rays and apparently his bill is some 50,000 dollars for an over night stay. I will be writing a complete yet related story on his case as soon as I receive documentation to this.

Newt is Done Says Krauthammer

newt

On tonight’s Special Report, political contributor Charles Krauthammer gave his take on presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich’s future as a candidate. This follows contradictory statements made by Gingrich on the individual health care mandate, as well as a vocal lack of support for Republican Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) alternative plan.

Krauthammer told Bret Baier that Gingrich “didn’t have a big chance from the beginning, but now it’s over.”

Independent Poll shows President Numbers at All Time Low

obama_poll_drop12-09

The presidents (non-scientific) independent poll numbers are at an all time low.  Real American Patriots have little to no confidence in him or his administration.  This fact was found to be true based on this publishers gleaning information from social sites such as Facebook and Freedomconnector (to name a couple). No real number can be put on this independent poll but it can be said that most everyone on these pages were very upset with the way things are being ran in this country.

In fact, there are clear indications that this administration continues attempting to take away the Americans freedoms by way of the health care bill, hidden higher taxes, out of control spending and just plain old non-sense activities and illegal actions such as going against the constitution of the united states, the bill of rights, and federal court orders from several judges across the country.

SEIU Details Plan to Crash Stock Market & Redistribute Wealth

A former official of one of the country’s most-powerful unions, SEIU, has a secret plan to “destabilize” the country. The plan is designed to destroy JP Morgan, nuke the stock market, and weaken Wall Street’s grip on power, thus creating the conditions necessary for a redistribution of wealth and a change in government. The former SEIU official, Stephen Lerner, spoke in a closed session at a Pace University forum last weekend.

Many Americans will undoubtely sympathize with and support them. Still, the “destabilization” plan is startling in its specificity, especially coming so close on the heels of the financial crisis. Lerner said that unions and community organizations are, for all intents and purposes, dead. The only way to achieve their goals, therefore–the redistribution of wealth and the return of “$17 trillion” stolen from the middle class by Wall Street–is to “destabilize the country.” Lerner’s plan is to organize a mass, coordinated “strike” on mortgage, student loan, and local government debt payments–thus bringing the banks to the edge of insolvency and forcing them to renegotiate the terms of the loans.  This destabilization and turmoil, Lerner hopes, will also crash the stock market, isolating the banking class and allowing for a transfer of power.

Lerner’s plan starts by attacking JP Morgan Chase in early May, with demonstrations on Wall Street, protests at the annual shareholder meeting, and then calls for a coordinated mortgage strike. Lerner also says explicitly that, although the attack will benefit labor unions, it cannot be seen as being organized by them. It must therefore be run by community organizations. Lerner was ousted from SEIU last November, reportedly for spending millions of the union’s dollars trying to pursue a plan like the one he details here.  It is not clear what, if any, power and influence he currently wields. His main message–that Wall Street won the financial crisis, that inequality in this country is hitting record levels, and that there appears to be no other way to stop the trend–will almost certainly resonate.

A transcript of Lerner’s full reported remarks is below, courtesy of The Blaze. We have heard the tape, but we have not independently verified that the voice is Lerner’s.  You can listen to the tape here.   Here are the key remarks:

Unions are almost dead. We cannot survive doing what we do but the simple fact of the matter is community organizations are almost dead also. And if you think about what we need to do it may give us some direction which is essentially what the folks that are in charge – the big banks and everything – what they want is stability. There are actually extraordinary things we could do right now to start to destabilize the folks that are in power and start to rebuild a movement. For example, 10% of homeowners are underwater right their home they are paying more for it then its worth 10% of those people are in strategic default, meaning they are refusing to pay but they are staying in their home that’s totally spontaneous they figured out it takes a year to kick me out of my home because foreclosure is backed up If you could double that number you would  you could put banks at the edge of insolvency again have a trillion dollar debt
We have an entire economy that is built on debt and banks so the question would be what would happen if we organized homeowners in mass to do a mortgage strike if we get half a million people to agree  it would literally cause a new finical crisis for the banks not for us we would be doing quite well  we wouldn’t be paying anything… We have to think much more creatively. The key thing… What does the other side fear the most – they fear disruption. They fear uncertainty. Every article about Europe says in they rioted in Greece the markets went down.  The folks that control this country care about one thing how the stock market goes what the bond market does how the bonuses goes. We have a very simple strategy:

  • How do we bring down the stock market –  How do we bring down their bonuses - How do we interfere with there ability to be rich…
  • So a bunch of us around the country think who would be a really good company to hate we decided that would be JP Morgan Chase  and so we are going to roll out over the next couple of months what would hopefully be an exciting campaign about JP Morgan Chase that is really about challenge the power of Wall Street. And so what we are looking at is the first week in May can we get enough people together starting now to really have an week of action in New York I don’t want to give any details because I don’t know if there are any police agents in the room. The goal would be that we will roll out of New York the first week of May. We will connect three ideas - that we are not broke there is plenty of money - they have the money  - we need to get it back - and that they are using Bloomberg and other people in government as the vehicle to try and  destroy us

And so we need to take on those folks at the same time. And that we will start here we are going to look at a week of civil disobedience – direct action all over the city. Then roll into the JP Morgan shareholder meeting which they moved out of New York because I guess they were afraid because of Columbus. There is going to be a ten state mobilization to try and shut down that meeting and then looking at bank shareholder meetings around the country and try and create some moments like Madison except where we are on offense instead of defense. Where we have brave and heroic battles challenging the power of the giant corporations. We hope to inspire a much bigger movement about redistributing wealth and power in the country and that labor can’t do itself that community groups can’t do themselves but maybe we can work something new and different that can be brave enough  and daring and nimble enough to do that kind of thing.

House Republicans that Voted Against Cutting Government Spending

The Names of the 92 House Republicans That Voted Against Cutting Government Spending.

The House of Representatives just rejected a proposal by the conservative Republican Study Committee that would have returned non-security discretionary spending to 2008 levels.

The measure failed by an overwhelming 281 to 147 margin, with 92 Republicans voting “no.”

The idea behind the amendment was to keep with the GOP campaign pledge to cut annual spending by $100 billion. Its failure is likely to raise concerns that Republicans are not serious about reducing spending. Though I think a bigger indicator will be the 2012 budget that they unviel in April, which will include a 10-year deficit reduction plan. House Speaker John Boehner has insisted that the proposal will include enitlement reforms.
